Sometimes isolating the lower cervical spine for extension purposes can be tricky. If you don’t take the head and mid neck together you can often limit your extension movement to about C4-5. Giving support to the C7-T1 area with one hand while providing head and mid-neck retraction over your target segment will help greatly. Be sure to cradle the head and keep your bicep relaxed for the patient’s comfort.
